A February 2019 study led by researchers at Texas A&M University and the University of Missouri found that arts education has a significantly positive impact on children’s lives.
Kids who engage in the arts will be more likely to show compassion for others, less likely to have disciplinary problems, and will perform better on writing tests.
Studies have long showed the benefits of an arts education:
Increased awareness of self (mind, body, and voice) and others (collaboration and empathy);
Improved clarity and creativity in communication of verbal and nonverbal ideas; and
Deeper understanding of human behavior, motivation, diversity, culture and history.
This is why an arts education plays a key role in the daily curriculum throughout all grade levels at St. Aloysius.
Teachers integrate art activities into their indivdual curriculum; and our weekly masses play a key role in St. Aloysius students' exposure to music. Songs that will be part of our weekly mass celebrations are distributed to the classrooms in advance. This allows students to practice, and help prepare them to be more active participants in our liturgies.
